JNRM College Student Arrested as A&N Police Seize Cannabis Parcel

April 1, 2024. following information received by the authorities indicating the smuggling of cannabis through a courier service Head Post office in Aberdeen Bazar, Port Blair. Acting swiftly, law enforcement intercepted the courier and apprehended the individual responsible for its dispatch, identified as Mr G Neeraj S/o Late P Gopal, a college student preparing a degree in B.A (Political Science), Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM), Port Blair, Resident of Pongichaun, Port Blair, was found in possession of 325 grams of cannabis concealed within the parcel.

In preparation for the upcoming elections, the Andaman & Nicobar Police force has intensified its vigilance efforts, focusing on cracking down on illegal activities such as the sale of illicit liquor and drugs. Recent days have seen a surge in operations, with legal liquor seizures becoming a regular occurrence. In a recent development, a tip-off led to the interception of a parcel suspected of containing cannabis.

The substance had been transported via the postal department, underscoring the collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies and postal services in combating illicit activities. Following the seizure, G Neeraj was promptly arrested, and legal proceedings have been initiated against him under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act-1985 at the Anti-Narcotics Police Station.
