INS Kesari Celebrates 16th Anniversary Ceremony

Amidst the gentle lapping of waves and the salty breeze, the crew of INS Kesari gathered for a time-honored ceremony – the cutting of a celebratory cake. This symbolic gesture not only commemorated the ship’s journey but also served as a reminder of the camaraderie shared by its crew.

In a gesture that warmed hearts across the archipelago, members of the ship’s Navy Welfare & Wellness Association (NWWA) paid a visit to local children. With smiles as bright as the tropical sun, they distributed food, toys, and, most importantly, moments of joy to the children of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The visit to a local children’s orphanage was a poignant reminder of the ship’s commitment to serving not only the nation but also its communities.

INS Kesari, affectionately known as the pride of the Indian Navy, stands as a testament to indigenous shipbuilding prowess. Manned by a dedicated crew, the ship is designed to carry a formidable array of equipment, from tanks and armoured personnel carriers to guns and vehicles. Its versatility extends to its role in amphibious operations, coastal and offshore patrol, coastal security, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR), and logistics support operations.

Equipped with rocket launchers, anti-aircraft guns, and the capability to operate various types of helicopters, INS Kesari embodies the spirit of agility and strength. Its ability to launch and recover troops through sea and air operations underscores its importance in safeguarding the nation’s interests.

What sets INS Kesari apart is not just its formidable capabilities but also its ethos. Named after the majestic Indian lion, the ship’s crest depicts the head of a roaring lion against a sky-blue background, symbolizing ferocity and strength. This ethos is encapsulated in its motto, “Earnest in Endeavour,” a reminder of the dedication and resolve that define its operations.

As INS Kesari celebrates another year of service, it remains a shining example of the ‘Make in India’ paradigm, with nearly 90% of its components being indigenous. Its anniversary celebrations not only showcase its achievements but also highlight its deep-rooted connection with the communities it serves. In its wake, INS Kesari leaves not just waves but also a legacy of service, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the nation and its people.
