In another significant blow against the illicit drug trade, the diligent efforts of the Hutbay Police Station have led to the seizure of 1.031 kilograms of crystalline methamphetamine in Little Andaman.
The operation unfolded swiftly following credible intelligence received on April 9th from an anonymous source. Acting on this information, a team led by Sub-Inspector Somen Kr. Haldar, Station House Officer of PS Hut Bay, and including Sub-Inspector Regan Isaac, Head Constables Arvind Kerketta and Victor Dung Dung, Police Constable Anbu Kumar, and Constable Narayan Mondal, promptly mobilized to Nallah Mundi Jungle.
After a meticulous search of the area, officers discovered a suspicious packet concealed within the dense foliage. Subsequent testing using a drug detection kit confirmed the presence of crystalline methamphetamine. The seized substance, totaling 1.031 kilograms, was appropriately packaged and secured following established protocols.
The successful operation was conducted under the astute supervision of Shri Manasvi Vashistha, Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Swaraj Dweep, and under the overarching guidance of Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District, Smti Niharika Bhatt, IPS.
Highlighting the gravity of the situation, Superintendent Bhatt underscored that involvement in any aspect of the narcotics trade – be it production, possession, distribution, or sale – constitutes a serious criminal offense, subject to stringent legal repercussions.
