The Indian Merchant Navy has recently announced recruitment notifications for April 2024, offering a total of 4,000 vacancies for various positions such as Deck Rating, Engine Rating, Seaman Electrician, Welder/Helper, Mess Boy and Cook. Note: Only male candidates may apply. Freshers and candidates awaiting 12th class results are eligible to apply.

Age Limit:

The age limits for the different posts are as follows:

• Deck Rating: 17.5 to 25 years
• Engine Rating: 17.5 to 25 years
• Seaman: 17.5 to 25 years
• Electrician: 17.5 to 27 years
• Welder/Helper: 17.5 to 27 years
• Mess Boy: 17.5 to 27 years
• Cook: 17.5 to 27 years

General Instructions:

• Candidates should carefully read the advertisement instructions before applying.
• It’s advisable to submit applications well before the closing date to avoid technical issues.
• Ensure eligibility in terms of age, educational qualifications, etc., before applying.
• Requests for changes or corrections in the application form post-submission will not be entertained.

Selection Process:

• The written examination comprises 100 objective-type multiple-choice questions.
• Each question carries 1 mark.
• No marks are awarded for unanswered questions.
• The exam level is up to 10th & 12th standard/grade.
• The examination will be conducted in bilingual (English & Hindi).
• There is no negative marking.
• Candidates must carefully choose their examination center during the online application process, as changes will not be permitted later.

How to Apply:

1. Applications must be submitted online through the official website www.sealanemaritime.in.
2. Providing incorrect information may lead to application rejection.
3. Candidates must preview their applications before submission to ensure accuracy in details such as email, phone number, and uploaded photograph.
4. The application portal will be open from 11th March 2024 to 30th April 2024, until 12:00 PM midnight.
5. An application fee of Rs. 100/- is applicable and non-refundable.
6. Candidates are advised to register well in advance to avoid last-minute rush.
7. No modifications are allowed after submission of the online application.
