Port Blair, April 7, 2024: Mi-17 V5 helicopters belonging to the Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) were deployed to tackle a raging forest fire in the Diglipur area. The swift response and multiple sorties undertaken by the ANC helicopters equipped with Bambi buckets proved instrumental in bringing the fire under control.
The ANC, known for its motto Any Task Anytime Anywhere swiftly mobilized resources to combat the wildfire that threatened the pristine forests of Diglipur. As soon as the alarm was raised, the Mi-17 V5 helicopters were pressed into action, showcasing the command’s readiness and capability to respond to emergencies promptly.
Utilizing the Bambi bucket, a specialized firefighting tool attached to the helicopters, the ANC personnel conducted numerous sorties over the affected area, dousing the flames and preventing the fire from spreading further.
