Ebrahim Jadwet AACM-VSI Shares Insights on Flights Under UDAN Scheme

Port Blair, April 7, 2024 – In a significant development for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, it is anticipated that inter-island flight services under the UDAN scheme will potentially flight operations to begin in July 2024, facilitating enhanced connectivity across the archipelago. Ebrahim Jadwet, a prominent member of the AACM of Veer Savarkar International Airport, shared his views on this transformative initiative, shedding light on its potential implications for the region.

Car Nicobar and North Andaman Airport Terminal Completed Inter-Islands

The introduction of a 19-seat fixed-wing aircraft to operate between Port Blair, Shibpur in North Andaman and Car Nicobar in Nicobar Island is poised to revolutionize travel within the islands. Already, a private company has been designated as the operator for these crucial routes, marking a crucial step towards improving accessibility for residents and visitors alike.

During the recent commemoration of the 29th foundation day of the Indian Aircraft Fall Authority at Veer Savarkar International Airport in Port Blair, airport director Devendra Yadav underscored the significance of the UDAN (Ude Desh Ke Aam Nagrik) scheme in bridging the geographical gaps within the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He expressed optimism about the imminent commencement of flight operations, emphasizing the potential benefits for tourism and economic development across the region.

Ebrahim Jadwet talked about how connecting the islands would make a big difference. He said it would help people explore new places in North Andaman and Nicobar easily. He also mentioned that this initiative would help all the islands grow together.

Ebrahim Jadwet elaborated on the broader implications of improved connectivity, particularly in sectors such as healthcare and tourism. He noted that the accessibility provided by inter-island flights would significantly enhance healthcare services by facilitating the transportation of patients and government officials between islands. By diverting Pawan Hans flights to additional destinations such as Long Island, Neil Island, and Havelock Hud Bay, the frequency of service to smaller islands could be augmented, thereby enhancing accessibility and stimulating economic activity in these areas.
