The Deputy Commissioner of North & Middle Andaman led a productive meeting of the Coastal Security Committee, joined by the Superintendent of Police (SP) North & Middle Andaman, Assistant Commissioner of Headquarters (AC HQ), Commandant of Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS), and other key stakeholders.
The meeting focused on devising strategies to address various challenges affecting the coastal areas of the district, including combating illegal activities and deterring foreign poachers. The aim is to ensure a safer shoreline for all residents.
One significant issue discussed was the rampant presence of bootleggers in the islands, who engage in illicit distillation and the illegal sale of liquor. Authorities emphasized the importance of maintaining constant pressure on these bootleggers to curb their activities effectively.
